Sam's Cornhole Bags is looking for candidates who are handy with sewing machines at home to fill immediate independent contract positions assisting with cornhole bag production. Contractors will be paid on a per-unit basis. You will be provided raw materials (fabric, thread, corn, etc) to manufacture cornhole bags at your own home and at your own pace. The contract work tends to be seasonal, with the highest demand during the summer months, so the work may be temporary based on demand. Scheduling is very flexible, but ideally we would expect your output to be at least 100 cornhole bags per week, up to several hundred per week based on your level of interest in the work as well as sales volume during the season.
Primary duties include:
-Filling empty cornhole bag pouches with a specific amount of corn
-Sewing closed the open end of a cornhole bag with a double stitched seam along one side
-Inspecting the bag to meet quality standards
-Neatly returning the bags for payment
Job requirements:
-General knowledge of household & heavy duty sewing machines
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally (by phone or in person) and in writing (e-mail or text message)
-Timely communication for pickup and delivery of materials
-Clean, dry, pest-free work environment at home.
-Storage considerations: ability to properly store 50 pound bags of corn (up to 500-1000 pounds).
-Pickup and delivery of the raw and finished products is preferred. Depending on location we may be able to meet in the middle, however preference will be given to City of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County located workers.
Specific training for our product expectations will be provided. All raw materials will be provided. No equipment will be provided, so the use of your own sewing machine is expected. Proficient sewers should be able to earn anywhere from $15-25/hour depending on efficiency.
